Can I change my boost mobile phone if i dont like the one i have?

I got a boost mobile phone yesterday and I found out its not compatible for mobile im even though the idiot rep told me it was. I found one at walmart that is compatible, can I change it simply by buying that phone and putting the sim card from my current phone in the new one?
