okay so, we have at&t (cingular originally) and they told us that in order to text you have to have internet on your phone. is this true or a bunch of bull they are telling us?
i have friends (on different services though) that can text and have no internet capability what so ever on their phones.

No you don’t need internet on your phone. Texting is a separate function built into your phone. Personally, I prefer texting by carrier pigeon.
