How to work specifically with Apple/Machintosh computers as a programmer or other form of computer nerd?

Here is the deal. I got about two more semesters before I graduate with a BA in Criminal Justice. I love my major and the information I am learning, but I can’t shake the fact that I love computers (specifically macs) and wish I could do more with them. So, if I narrow it down a little, say I want to be a part of the team that creates the actual user interface of the apple computer (the look and feel of the dock, icons etc. as well as what happens, such as the dock icons bouncing when clicked or when you touch the corner of your desktop multiple windows will show up, and creating how the windows show up etc.) does that all have to do with programming or is there something else to it? I know programming has to do with how hardware acts and what happens etc. but I want to get into more of the desktop look and feel etc. (hope this makes sense. =/)
