How can I record a voicemail message off a phone onto a computer with good quality?

I’d like to know if it was possible to transfer a voicemail message from a cell phone (or landline phone, may be useful in the future) onto a computer or voice recorder with good quality. I already tried a voice recorder, but it came up with way too much static to be useful. Any ideas?
